A Foundation, in collaboration with the Dutch Embassy and representatives of civil society in Costa Rica have invited Ciclociudades from Mexico to host a workshop for Costa Rican municipalities and public institutions. The goal of the workshop is to inform local authorities about best practices in urban cycling and how to implement the required physical infrastructure for non-motorized urban transport in an optimized way.
Ciclociudades is founded and supported by the Mexican Instituto de PolĂticas para el Transporte y Desarrollo (ITDP) and the Interface for Cycling Expertise (I-CE) from the Netherlands. The objective of Ciclociudades is the design and diffusion of a manual as well as the implementation of bicycle culture and infrastructure in the cities of Mexico. The full manual can be downloaded on the Ciclociudades homepage; a workplan for city development and ranking can be downloaded here.
The workshop in Costa Rica will take place in the City of Investigation of the University of Costa Rica from March 4 through 6; site visits and field trips to municipalities that are currently implementing or planning to implement bicycle infrastructure in Costa Rica are planned for March 7 and 8.
