A-01 has been commissioned by the Municipality of Curridabat in Costa Rica to develop and implement the concept of a Popular School of Urbanism (PSU). The PSU will aim at strengthening the creative and practical capacity of citizens to identify issues that affect their neighborhood and to participate through public-private or academic partnerships in planning, budgeting and implementing small-scale interventions. The resulting open source Popular Urbanism Toolkit (PUT) will support a long-term strategic transformation of public space through positive appropriation and citizen empowerment. The image attached to this message shows a popular neighborhood intervention in La Nopalera Park in Barrio El Prado, Curridabat, which was implemented by students of Veritas University under guidance of Professor Alberto Negrini.
