Today, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon joined us on a bicycle trip through central San Jose in order to help promoting the use of non-motorized urban transport. The event was further attended by the Costa Rican Ministers for the Exterior and the Environment; it was organized by UNDP in collaboration with RAMU and RECAFIS.
A-01 promotes non-motorized urban transport in Costa Rica through various urban planning projects, such as Acupuncturas Monteverdes, CCMEC, PNSGAM, and Trama Verde. Through A Foundation, we stimulate the use and the creation of an urban culture endorsing the bike by frequent activities such as the Bicycle Birthday Party in Cartago, the search for a bike path in San Jose, and the creation of the Sustainable Mobility campaign, amongst others.
In the city of Cartago, A-01’s design for the first bike rental stations in the country is currently being constructed; the project will run on bikes designed by A-01 in collaboration with GW from Colombia. It is built around the Greater Metropolitan Area’s first inner-city bicycle infrastructure, and will complete the first intermodal transport hub in Costa Rica.
